    Пап, раз уж сегодня последний звонок, скажу честно: не хочу я быть юристом.

    Dad, since it's the last bell today, I'll be honest: I don't want to be a lawyer.

    Как это не хочешь? Мы же три года репетиторов оплачивали, дедушка всем уже рассказал.

    What do you mean, you don't want to? We paid for tutors for three years, Grandpa's already told everyone.

    Душа не лежит, понимаешь? Поваром я хочу стать, в кулинарный колледж пойти.

    My heart's just not in it, you know? A chef is what I want to be, I want to go to culinary college.

    Поваром, значит... Вместо того чтобы в суде выступать, котлеты жарить будешь?

    A chef, then... Instead of speaking in court, you'll be frying cutlets?

    Не только котлеты. Ты же сам мои блины хвалил!

    Not just cutlets. You praised my pancakes yourself!

    Хвалил, не спорю. Тогда так: в воскресенье кормишь обедом всю семью, это твой вступительный экзамен.

    I did, I won't argue. Then here's the deal: on Sunday you cook dinner for the whole family, and that's your entrance exam.

    Deal! But if I pass, you're the one telling Mum about the college.
