Day 124: The Wrong Mr. Ivanov

At Pulkovo airport, a hired driver holding a sign that says Ivanov meets a passenger and drives him towards the city.

    Иванов? Отлично, я вас встречаю. Давайте чемодан, машина на парковке.

    Ivanov? Great, I'm here to pick you up. Let me take your suitcase, the car's in the car park.

    Надо же, меня ещё никогда с табличкой не встречали! Фирма расщедрилась, что ли?

    Well I never, no one's ever met me with a sign before! Has my company turned generous or something?

    Ну вот, скоро город. Значит, едем по указанному в заказе адресу, на Невский?

    Well, we're nearly in town. So we're going to the address in the booking, on Nevsky?

    Разве на Невский? Я домой еду, на Васильевский, думал, вас фирма прислала.

    Nevsky? I'm going home, to Vasilyevsky Island, I thought my company had sent you.

    Подождите, а вы какой Иванов? Мне нужен Сергей Павлович, из Новосибирска.

    Hold on, which Ivanov are you? I need Sergei Pavlovich, from Novosibirsk.

    Неужели не меня? Я Андрей, прилетел из Москвы... Выходит, настоящий Иванов всё ещё в аэропорту!

    So it wasn't me you were meeting? I'm Andrei, I flew in from Moscow... So the real Ivanov is still at the airport!

    Встретил, называется... Ладно, бог с ним, до метро вас довезу, а сам обратно.

    Some pick-up that was... All right, never mind, I'll drop you at the metro and head back.
