Day 140: Grandpa's Name Day

At their grandfather's house in Kostroma on a July afternoon, two grandsons get an unexpected announcement.

    Внуки, вы хоть помните, какой сегодня день? Двенадцатое июля, Петров день, мои именины!

    Boys, do you even remember what day it is today? The twelfth of July, St Peter's Day, my name day!

    Именины? Дед, это как снег на голову, мы про твои именины первый раз слышим!

    Name day? Grandpa, this is out of the blue, it's the first we've heard of your name day!

    Это что-то вроде второго дня рождения? И подарки тоже положены?

    Is it something like a second birthday? And do you get presents too?

    А как же, раньше ведь вся деревня гуляла! Гости в шесть придут, так что у вас ровно час.

    Of course, in the old days the whole village celebrated! The guests are coming at six, so you've got exactly one hour.

    Час? Ну ты даёшь, дед! Димка, вместо того чтобы стоять столбом, беги за тортом, а я за продуктами.

    An hour? Well, you're something, Grandpa! Dimka, instead of standing there like a statue, run and get a cake, and I'll get the groceries.

    Бегу сломя голову! Дед, а торт какой, с надписью «С именинами»?

    Running like mad! Grandpa, what kind of cake, with "Happy Name Day" on it?

    Какой хочешь, лишь бы большой! А гостей я, между прочим, ещё неделю назад позвал.

    Whatever you like, as long as it's big! And I invited the guests a week ago, by the way.
