Day 27: The Metal Detector Finds a Key

On an empty October beach on the Volga near Samara, two friends have spent the afternoon with a new metal detector.

    Три часа копаем, и одни крышки от бутылок. Может, ну его, этот металлоискатель?

    Three hours of digging, and nothing but bottle caps. Maybe we should just forget this metal detector?

    Погоди, опять звенит. Громко звенит, это что-то покрупнее.

    Wait, it's beeping again. Beeping loudly, it's something bigger.

    Спорим, опять крышка? Ну давай, копай.

    Bet it's another cap? Well, go on, dig.

    Не крышка... Ключ! Смотри, от машины.

    Not a cap... A key! Look, a car key.

    Дай-ка... Это же мой! Я его прошлым летом здесь потерял, полдня потом искали.

    Let me see... That's mine! I lost it right here last summer, we spent half a day looking for it.

    Вот это находка! Выходит, металлоискатель-то окупился в первый же день.

    Now that's a find! So the metal detector paid for itself on the very first day.
