What kind of tree are we getting? Let's go artificial, it'll last about ten years.

A plastic one? It doesn't smell! What's New Year without the smell of a fir tree?

А срубленная к Рождеству высохнет, и иголки будут по всей квартире.
And a cut one will dry out by Christmas, and there'll be needles all over the apartment.

Хотя, если честно, мне живую ёлку и жалко. Растёт лет десять, а у нас простоит пару недель.
Though to be honest, I do feel sorry for a real tree. It grows for ten years, and then stands in our place for a couple of weeks.

Listen, at the market they sell little trees in pots, with roots.

Great! And since it has roots, we'll plant it in the yard in spring.
