In a kitchen in Saint Petersburg, two friends are baking a kulebyaka from a prerevolutionary cookbook for a dinner party.

Right, according to the recipe: four fillings, thin pancakes between them, and all of it in dough.

И кто эту кашу заварил? Гости через два часа, а тесто рвётся.
And who got us into this mess? The guests are coming in two hours, and the dough keeps tearing.

Me, I admit it. Who knew a recipe written a hundred years ago would turn out so tricky?

It doesn't even have grams, just 'as much flour as the dough will take'.

That's it, the dough has torn again. The first pancake is always a flop, as they say.
