Day 23 - Marriage Pressure

Today's Tasks

1. Read the lesson context.
2. Listen to the audio clips several times until the sounds feel familiar. Do not repeat aloud—just listen and absorb.
3. Download the Anki deck and review it daily. It includes all the audio clips in today's lesson for efficient review. Review previous decks if prompted to do so.
4. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Russian audio. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it.

  Can you imagine, my parents keep pestering me about when the wedding will be.

  Да-да, у меня то же самое. Каждый звонок мамы — «Когда уже внуки?»

  Yeah, same here. Every call from my mom is, 'So when will I get grandkids?'

  У меня девушка есть, но я не готов пока. А они думают, что я тяну резину.

  I have a girlfriend, but I'm not ready yet. And they think I'm just dragging my feet.

  Классика. Родителям не объяснишь, что сейчас другие времена и никто не спешит.

  Classic. You can't explain to parents that times are different now and nobody's rushing.

  Ага. Им по двадцать было - уже женились, а мне тридцать скоро, и всё никак.

  Yep. They were married by twenty, and I'm almost thirty with nothing yet.

  Не парься. Главное, ты с девушкой счастлив. А формальности - дело десятое.

  Don't worry. The main thing is you're happy with your girlfriend. The formalities are secondary.

  Я тоже так считаю. Просто надо научиться пропускать эти разговоры мимо ушей.

  I think so too. I just need to learn to let these talks go in one ear and out the other.

  Точно. Живи своим темпом, а родители пусть смирятся.

  Exactly. Live at your own pace, and let your parents come to terms with it.
