   Hi, Grandpa! Mum said someone from some bank security service called you. You didn't tell them anything, did you?

   Сказал, Митя, и много чего. Я этим аферистам сорок минут зубы заговаривал.

   I did, Mitya, and plenty. I spent forty minutes talking those crooks' heads off.

   Сорок минут?! Дед, это же мошенники, они так стариков и облапошивают. Ты код из СМС не называл?

   Forty minutes?! Grandpa, they're scammers, that's exactly how they swindle old people. You didn't give them the code from the text message?

   Погоди паниковать. Звонит вежливый молодой человек: мол, кто-то в Хабаровске якобы снимает деньги с моей карты.

   Don't panic yet. A polite young man calls: someone in Khabarovsk, he says, is supposedly taking money off my card.

   Классика. А потом, дескать, чтобы отменить операцию, надо срочно продиктовать код?

   Classic. And then, so he claims, to cancel the transaction you urgently have to read out the code?

   Точно. А я ему: погоди, сынок, очки найду... Потом связь барахлила, потом кот по кнопкам топтался.

   Exactly. And I tell him: hang on, sonny, let me find my glasses... Then the line kept playing up, then the cat trampled all over the buttons.

   Grandpa, you're quite the performer, but that's a dangerous game. What if you'd given them a real code by accident?

   What real code, Mitya? I've never had an account at that bank in my life, I get my pension at another one.
