   Cut! Mitya, what was that? The script says in black and white: "I'm back." Where did your "Well, weren't expecting me?" come from?

   Из героя, Андрей, из самого его нутра. Человек двадцать лет не был дома, не будет он декламировать, как на утреннике.

   From the character, Andrei, from deep inside him. A man who hasn't been home for twenty years isn't going to recite like a kid at a school show.

   Андрей Викторович, простите, что вмешиваюсь, но режимного времени у нас минут двадцать, не больше. Свет уходит.

   Andrei Viktorovich, sorry to butt in, but we've got twenty minutes of magic hour left, no more. The light's going.

   Слышу, Саша, слышу. Митя, это не нутро, это Репин какой-то, «Не ждали», полотно в трёх актах. Зритель же хихикнет.

   I hear you, Sasha, I hear you. Mitya, that's not deep inside, that's some kind of Repin, "They Did Not Expect Him", a painting in three acts. The audience will snigger.

   Let them snigger, that's a real reaction. And your "I'm back" sounds like he's come home from a business trip with a cake.

   No "in the edit". I know your improvisations, Mitya: give you an inch and you'll rewrite the whole scene.

   So give me one, don't be stingy. You said yourself at the audition that you needed an actor, not a talking head.

    Не успеем, Андрей Викторович, свет ушёл. Но оператор первый дубль, где «Не ждали», снял крупным планом и говорит, что лучшего кадра за всю смену не было.

    We won't make it, Andrei Viktorovich, the light's gone. But the cameraman shot the first take, the "weren't expecting me" one, in close-up, and he says it's the best shot of the whole day.
