   Kostya, this isn't just a social call. The bank will give me a loan for a second car wash, but not without a guarantor, no way.

   I'm not asking for money, just a signature. I'll do the paying, you'll just be named in the papers.

   Вот этой «просто подписи» я и боюсь. Жорика из соседнего бокса помнишь? Тоже расписался, а потом приставы машину за чужой долг забрали.

   It's that "just a signature" that scares me. Remember Zhorik from the next garage? He signed too, and then the bailiffs took his car for someone else's debt.

   I remember. But Zhorik vouched for his brother-in-law, who blew everything on betting, and have I ever once let you down?

   Ни разу, потому и тяжело сказать «нет». Знаешь поговорку: хочешь потерять друга, дай ему взаймы. А тут и друга потеряешь, и гараж.

   Never, that's why it's so hard to say no. You know the saying: if you want to lose a friend, lend him money. And here you'd lose the friend and the garage.
