Day 177: An Apple Like a Potato

    Вот, закончил свой первый натюрморт. Только честно, как вам?

    Here, I've finished my first still life. Honestly now, what do you think?

    Честно? Яблоко у вас похоже на картошку.

    Honestly? Your apple looks like a potato.

    Я так и думал. А ведь это простейшая форма, просто круг!

    I thought so. And it's the simplest shape, just a circle!

    Круг плоский, а яблоко как шар. Смотрите: свет падает слева, значит, тень справа.

    A circle is flat, but an apple is like a ball. Look: the light falls from the left, so the shadow is on the right.

    То есть рисовать, глядя не на яблоко, а на свет?

    So I should draw looking not at the apple, but at the light?

    Именно. Добавьте тень карандашом, и картошка станет яблоком.

    Exactly. Add the shadow with your pencil, and the potato will turn into an apple.
