   So on Saturday we're making pelmeni. I'll handle the filling: beef and pork.

   Настоящие уральские ещё и с бараниной. А лук рубим ножом, а не в мясорубке.

   Proper Ural ones have lamb in them too. And the onion gets chopped with a knife, not put through the mincer.

   Ладно, не спорю. Тесто тогда на тебе, я в этом не мастер.

   All right, I won't argue. The dough's on you then, I'm no expert at that.

   Как это не мастер? А кто зимой говорил, что сам всю ночь лепил?

   What do you mean, no expert? And who was it said last winter he'd spent all night making them himself?

   Ну... раз уж на то пошло, признаюсь: пельмени были магазинные. Я только пачку спрятал.

   Well... since it's come to that, I confess: the pelmeni were shop-bought. I just hid the packet.

   You sly dog! Lyokha begged you for the recipe, and you spun him a tale about your great-grandfather's secret.

   Каюсь. Думал, выйду сухим из воды, а теперь придётся лепить по-настоящему. Научишь?

   Guilty as charged. I thought I'd get away with it, and now I'll have to make them for real. Will you teach me?
