   Hello, doctor. At another clinic they told us the knee needs an operation, and the sooner the better.

   We decided to hear another opinion before agreeing to anything. We sent you the scans and the report.

   Снимки я уже посмотрел. Расскажите лучше, когда и как именно болит, и чем вы вообще занимаетесь.

   I've already looked at the scans. Tell me instead when and how exactly it hurts, and what you do generally.

   По утрам ноет, после дачи вообще не могу ступить, а на лестнице хромаю, как старый дед.

   It aches in the mornings, after a day at the dacha I can hardly put weight on it, and on the stairs I limp like an old man.

   Dad, you haven't told him everything. He also plays football with my friends every Sunday, and in goal, too.

   Вот это многое объясняет. Не исключено, что дело не столько в износе, сколько в нагрузке, которую колено попросту не выдерживает.

   Now that explains a lot. It may well be not so much wear and tear as a strain the knee simply can't take.

   Я бы не торопился. Сначала пару месяцев физиотерапии и упражнений, перерыв в футболе, а потом сделаем повторный снимок и посмотрим.

   I wouldn't rush. First a couple of months of physiotherapy and exercises, a break from football, and then we'll do another scan and see.
