Day 28: Blue Hair for the Summer

In a flat in Samara, a teenager asks his father for permission to change his look for the summer.

    Пап, можно я на лето волосы в синий покрашу? В сентябре смою, честно.

    Dad, can I dye my hair blue for the summer? I'll wash it out in September, honest.

    В синий? А бабушка тебя на даче узнает или сразу скорую вызывать?

    Blue? And will your grandma recognise you at the dacha, or should we call an ambulance straight away?

    Бабушке, кстати, нравится, я показывал фото. У нас полкласса уже покрасилось, один я как белая ворона.

    Grandma likes it, actually, I showed her a photo. Half my class have already dyed their hair, I'm the odd one out.

    Ладно, при условии, что закончишь год без троек и краску купишь на свои.

    All right, on condition that you finish the year without any Cs and buy the dye with your own money.

    Без троек? А если бы тебе в пятнадцать такое условие поставили?

    No Cs? And what if someone had given you a condition like that at fifteen?

    Мне в твоём возрасте никто условий не ставил. Взял и покрасился в зелёный.

    At your age nobody set me any conditions. I just went and dyed my hair green.

    В зелёный?! Всё, пап, договорились: тройки исправлю, а ты мне фотку покажешь.

    Green?! Right, Dad, it's a deal: I'll fix my Cs, and you'll show me the photo.
