Day 6: He Won't Take the Money

In a garage in Kostroma, a man tries to pay his best friend, a car mechanic, for fixing his car.

    Серёг, спасибо тебе огромное, машина как новая. Сколько я тебе должен за ремонт?

    Seryoga, thanks a million, the car's like new. How much do I owe you for the repair?

    Да брось ты, какие деньги? Мы с тобой со школы дружим.

    Oh, come off it, what money? We've been friends since school.

    Вот именно, поэтому я настаиваю. Ты все выходные под моей машиной пролежал.

    Exactly, that's why I insist. You spent the whole weekend lying under my car.

    Даже не думай. Попробуешь сунуть деньги в карман, обижусь всерьёз и надолго.

    Don't even think about it. Try slipping money into my pocket and I'll be offended, seriously and for a long time.

    Тогда я обижусь в ответ, и будем дуться оба. Ну придумай хоть что-нибудь!

    Then I'll be offended back, and we'll both sulk. Come on, think of something!

    Ладно, есть идея. У меня на даче забор третий год некрашеный, руки не доходят.

    All right, I've got an idea. The fence at my dacha has gone unpainted for three years, I never get round to it.

    По рукам! В субботу приеду с краской и кистями, а ты только чай наливай.

    Deal! On Saturday I'll come with paint and brushes, and all you have to do is pour the tea.
