   Come on, admit it, you liked it. What did you make of Chatsky firing off angry posts right from the stage?

   Забавно, не спорю. Хотя Грибоедов, боюсь, собственную пьесу тут бы не узнал.

   It was funny, I'll give you that. Though I'm afraid Griboyedov wouldn't have recognised his own play.

   Да ладно, режиссёр ни строчки не тронул. Фамусовы никуда не делись, просто пересели в соцсети.

   Oh, come on, the director didn't touch a single line. The Famusovs haven't gone anywhere, they've just moved onto social media.

   Зато всё остальное перевернул с ног на голову. Фамусова на беговую дорожку поставил, это же кощунство!

   But he turned everything else upside down. He put Famusov on a treadmill, that's sacrilege!

   По-моему, точнее не придумаешь: бежит, пыхтит и стоит на месте, как и всё фамусовское общество.

   I don't think you could find a better image: he runs, he puffs and he stays in the same place, just like the whole of Famusov's society.

   Пусть так. Но в антракте ползала сидело в телефонах, так что сатира до публики не дошла.

   Maybe so. But in the interval half the audience was on their phones, so the satire never reached them.

   "And who are the judges?" You spent the whole interval on your phone yourself, you hypocrite.
