   Hello. Hail has smashed the roof at my dacha, and my policy, as I was solemnly promised, covers everything.

   Let's have a look. According to clause 4.7, damage from hail and other natural phenomena is not an insured event.

   What do you mean it isn't? When I took it out, they told me the policy covers everything, from fire to meteorites.

   Meteorites are covered, as it happens. But hail, hurricanes and floods are listed in the exclusions, right here in the small print.

   All the difference: I took out the policy in February, under the old rules, and they don't say half a word about hail.

   Hmm... You're right, hail isn't among the exclusions in the previous version. Well then, write out a claim, and the claims department will send an assessor.

   That's settled, then. From now on I think I'll study the small print before signing, not after the hail.
