   Валерий Николаевич, продолжим. Эвакуационный выход заставлен шкафом с неваляшками, огнетушитель просрочен на два года. Это уже четвёртое нарушение за десять минут.

   Valery Nikolayevich, let's go on. The emergency exit is blocked by a cabinet of roly-poly dolls, and the fire extinguisher is two years out of date. That's the fourth violation in ten minutes.

   Неваляшки, между прочим, шестидесятых годов, загорские. Куда я их дену? У меня тут каждый сантиметр на вес золота.

   Those roly-polies, I'll have you know, are from the sixties, made in Zagorsk. Where am I supposed to put them? Every centimetre here is worth its weight in gold.

   Понимаю, но огню всё равно, загорские они или китайские. Если, не дай бог, что-то случится, посетители должны выйти за две минуты.

   I understand, but fire doesn't care whether they're from Zagorsk or from China. If, God forbid, something happens, visitors have to get out in two minutes.

   Какие посетители? Ко мне по субботам три пенсионера заходят да экскурсия раз в месяц. Вы бы лучше торговый центр проверили.

   What visitors? Three pensioners drop in on Saturdays, plus a school trip once a month. You'd do better to inspect the shopping centre.

   Проверили, не беспокойтесь. А на экскурсии двадцать пять детей в зале, где проводка, судя по всему, помнит ещё Олимпиаду.

   We have, don't worry. But a school trip means twenty-five children in a room where the wiring, by the look of it, remembers the Olympics.

   Помнит, не спорю, вон и олимпийский Мишка на полке сидит. Так ведь работает же, сорок лет ни одной искры!

   It does, I won't argue, there's the Olympic Misha bear sitting on the shelf. But it works, doesn't it, forty years without a single spark!

   So far. Right, I'm issuing an order: replace the wiring, clear the emergency exit and recharge the fire extinguishers by the first of March.

   By March? I spent thirty years putting money aside from every pay packet for these exhibits, travelling round flea markets! You're killing me.

   Wait a moment... Is that a fire engine with an extending ladder on your top shelf? A tin one, with a wind-up key?

    That's the one, tin, with a key, and the ladder still extends. Why, did you have one as a child?
