Mikhalych, help me out: something's knocking on the left, on every bump. The garage has already quoted me twenty thousand for repairs.

Twenty thousand, you say... Those garages would quote you for a whole new car. Start her up, let's have a listen.

Standing still, it's quiet, the wretched thing, but as soon as I pull away it starts knocking, especially turning left.

I heard it. Your ball joint's fine, the suspension's got nothing to do with it, that's not metal knocking at all.

What do you mean, not metal? The garage drew me up a whole list: struts, boots, tie-rod ends.

So much for your suspension. I don't need twenty thousand, but I'll take a few pickles, if you insist: I bet your mother-in-law pickles a fine cucumber.
