On a hot July day in Yaroslavl, a man stops at a yellow kvass barrel on a street corner and talks to the elderly seller.

Here you go, nice and cold. I've been selling kvass on this corner for thirty years, by the way.

Тридцать лет? Так я, может, мальчишкой у вас и покупал, только тогда квас был вкуснее.
Thirty years? Then maybe I bought from you as a boy, only back then the kvass tasted better.

Квас тот же, по проверенному рецепту. Просто раньше, как говорится, и трава была зеленее.
It's the same kvass, made to a tried and tested recipe. It's just that back then, as they say, the grass was greener too.

No, back then it was colder and more sour. And there was one glass mug for the whole queue!
