Day 34: Locked in the Amber Museum

At midnight in the Amber Museum, an old fortress tower in Kaliningrad, the night watchman comes across a visitor who should not be there.

    Стоять! Вы кто такой? Музей уже три часа как закрыт!

    Freeze! Who are you? The museum closed three hours ago!

    Я не вор, честное слово, я в кинозале уснул. Просыпаюсь, а кругом темно.

    I'm not a thief, honestly, I fell asleep in the film room. I wake up, and it's dark all around.

    Ну и дела. Ключи у директора, он едет из Светлогорска, так что ждём.

    Well, how about that. The director has the keys, he's driving over from Svetlogorsk, so we wait.

    А вам тут по ночам не жутко одному, среди всей этой старины?

    Don't you find it creepy here at night, all alone among all these old things?

    Привык. Обходя залы, я даже здороваюсь с мухой, застывшей в янтаре сорок миллионов лет назад.

    I'm used to it. On my rounds I even say hello to a fly that got stuck in amber forty million years ago.

    Солидная соседка. А привидения в такой старой башне, случайно, не водятся?

    A respectable neighbour. And there aren't any ghosts in an old tower like this, by any chance?

    Говорят, будто бы водятся. Я-то не верил, пока сегодня храп из кинозала не услышал.

    They say there supposedly are. I didn't believe it, until tonight I heard snoring from the film room.
