Day 35: Diesel in a Petrol Car

At a petrol station near Tver, a driver rushes in to the attendant in a panic.

    Командир, выручайте! Я, кажется, залил в бензиновую машину дизель, полный бак.

    Chief, help me out! I think I've put diesel in my petrol car, a full tank.

  2. B

    Так, спокойно. Вы двигатель после заправки заводили или ещё нет?

    Right, stay calm. Have you started the engine since you filled up, or not yet?

  3. A

    Нет, слава богу, уже пистолет вешал и тут вижу: «ДТ». Что теперь будет?

    No, thank God, I was hanging the nozzle back up and then I saw it: "DT", diesel. What happens now?

  4. B

    Тогда полбеды. Только не заводите, ставьте на нейтралку, откатим её к забору.

    Then it's not so bad. Just don't start it, put it in neutral, and we'll push it over to the fence.

  5. A

    А дальше что? Мне через три часа в Москве надо быть, у меня переговоры!

    And then what? I have to be in Moscow in three hours, I've got a meeting!

  6. B

    Эвакуатор я сейчас вызову, бак в сервисе сольют, а переговоры, уж извините, по телефону. Не переживайте, вы у меня за неделю третий.

    I'll call a tow truck right now, they'll drain the tank at the garage, and your meeting, I'm afraid, will have to be by phone. Don't worry, you're my third this week.

    Третий?! Так, может, повесите над колонкой табличку покрупнее?

    Third?! Then maybe you should hang a bigger sign over the pump?
