   Good afternoon. I've moved to the other end of Moscow, and I'd like to cancel my contract.

   Понимаю, но в договоре сказано: при досрочном расторжении стоимость абонемента не возвращается.

   I understand, but the contract says that if it's terminated early, the cost of the membership isn't refunded.

   Условие кабальное. По закону о защите прав потребителей я вправе отказаться от услуг в любой момент.

   That's an unfair term. Under the consumer protection law I'm entitled to refuse the services at any time.

   Однако подписали вы именно этот договор. Что написано пером, того не вырубишь топором.

   And yet this is the contract you signed. What's written with a pen can't be cut out with an axe.

   Вырубит суд, если до него дойдёт. Пункт, который противоречит закону, ничтожен, и вы это прекрасно знаете.

   A court will cut it out, if it comes to that. A clause that contradicts the law is null and void, and you know that perfectly well.

   All right, let's settle this without a court. We'll refund you in proportion to the months left, minus the club's actual expenses.

   What expenses? I've dropped in here about ten times in six months, unless you count washing my towels.
